According to the American Heart Association, each year an estimated 166,000 lives are claimed by Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Sudden Cardiac Arrest is an electronic malfunction that causes rapid and chaotic heart activity. It's been shown that more people die from sudden cardiac arrest than from breast cancer, prostate cancer, AIDS, house fires, handguns and traffic accidents combined.

CPR, or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, has long been an important life saving first aid skill that is practiced throughout the world. Right now, it's the only known effective method of keeping someone who has suffered cardiac arrest alive long enough for definitive treatment to be delivered (usually by Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), Hospital staff, etc.).
